The degradation of these plastics in nature takes<br \/>\ncenturies, and according to the WHO, their carcinogenic<br \/>\ncontent poses a serious risk to human health. It is estimated<br \/>\nthat only about 9% of the plastic produced to date has been<br \/>\nrecycled.
